We understand that financing an independent school education can be a significant expense. During the previous year, 40% of Charles Wright Academy students received financial aid grants totaling $5.1 million. It’s because of generous contributions to the Fund for CWA that we are able to provide access and commit to meeting the demonstrated financial needs of our enrolled families.

Checks by Mail

Donor-Advised Funds (DAF)

How to donate to CWA via a DAF:

Open an account with an organization such as Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable/DAFgiving360, or NPT.
Contribute assets such as cash, stocks, real estate, or other appreciated assets to the account to receive a charitable tax deduction for the current year.
Select investment options to allow assets to grow tax-free while they sit in the account.
Recommend grants to Charles Wright Academy by logging in to your DAF portal.
CWA will review and approve the recommendation to ensure it complies with tax regulations.

Employer Matching Gifts

Gifts from your IRA (Ages 71+)

You can make a tax-free Qualified Charitable Contribution from your traditional IRL (other qualified retirement plans, such as 401(k) and 403(b), are not eligible). You must be at least 70.5 years old to take advantage of this opportunity (see IRS guidelines). You must transfer your Qualified Charitable Contribution directly from your IRA administrator to Charles Wright Academy. The total of all of your rollover contributions in any one year cannot exceed $111,000 per person. A spouse with a separate IRA could also make a rollover contribution of up to $111,000 if they otherwise qualify.

The benefits of an IRA charitable rollover contribution include:

Satisfies the required minimum distribution but is not included in taxable income.
Avoids income tax on IRA withdrawals.
Supports the important work of CWA with a tax-free gift (our EIN is 91-0673111).
Checks should be sent directly from your IRA administrator to CWA. Checks should be made payable to Charles Wright Academy with your name in the memo line.

How will CWA spend the money raised?

Why should I support the Fund for CWA when I am already paying tuition?

Tuition covers approximately 75 percent of the actual cost to attend CWA; the remaining 25 percent comes largely from annual giving support. Every family benefits from the generosity made possible through gifts to CWA. Unlike tuition payments, donations to The Fund for CWA are tax-deductible. By joining with other parents, together you help faculty and students achieve their potential while enhancing the school’s commitment to academic excellence.

Can I make a gift in honor of someone?

Yes, you may make a gift in honor of someone or leave a comment on why you give to CWA! Additionally, each year on #GivingTuesday (the Tuesday following Thanksgiving), the CWA community comes together to submit messages of gratitude for teachers and staff who have made an impact on them or their child. These messages will then be shared on CWA’s social media platforms the week of #GivingTuesday!
