Responsible Reopening Letter

Dear Charles Wright Community,

While all schools consider what it means to resume open campuses this fall, we are pleased to share preliminary work toward our “Responsible Reopening” plan. We have assembled a 25 member task force composed of faculty, staff, and administration to determine how Charles Wright Academy will continue to deliver high-quality, “active, joyful learning” for all students amidst the COVID-19 restrictions.

We are committed to ensuring a return to as much in-person instruction on our campus as possible. However, we also recognize that some students and families may encounter challenges beyond what the school can accommodate and therefore we will also be planning to offer remote or hybrid options for students who have need. Our task force is considering all possibilities for teaching and learning this fall and hopes to offer differentiated options for families as appropriate.

As we look toward releasing our complete plan to the community, with all scenarios accounted for on August 1, we are hosting a series of Town Hall meetings to invite you to hear more throughout the summer as plans develop. Additionally, we are pleased to announce the launch of our “Responsible Reopening” website page where you can read more about our planning process, dates for our Town Hall meetings, resources consulted, guiding principles, and the scope of our planning work.

The work of schools in navigating the changing landscape for reopening is challenging, but our ongoing commitment to provide an outstanding Charles Wright Academy experience for each student is not diminished by this challenge. We are fortunate to have many opportunities to leverage in our planning, from our large, beautiful campus with ample facilities to our incredibly dedicated, and innovative faculty and staff. We are confident that these assets and more will inform and support a plan that will continue providing a level of service to our students and families that is unmatched in the south Puget Sound area.

We are grateful for your continued partnership, trust, and support. We look forward to sharing plans with you and working toward a successful reopening this fall!

Best,

Susan Rice

Head of School
