Grace. Endurance. Confidence. Cooperation. Skill. Heart. Winning well. Losing well. Understanding that victory and defeat are both temporary. Charles Wright teaches all these things—usually while you’re wearing athletic shoes.

That’s why athletics are an integral part of our curriculum, and our coordinated, sequential athletic program builds skills at each level. We offer a mix of competitive and noncompetitive programs. Seventh and eighth graders compete with other middle schools through the Washington State Interscholastic Athletics Association (WIAA):

BASEBALL  BASKETBALL

CROSS-COUNTRY  FOOTBALL  SOCCER

TRACK AND FIELD  VOLLEYBALL

While they don’t compete with other schools, sixth graders have opportunities for practice and skill development in each of these sports. The Middle School also offers additional activities including fitness, martial arts, tennis, Ultimate frisbee, weight training, yoga, and an on-campus outdoor education program, which includes hiking, trail building, and skill development.

Every student participates in four seasons of sports or fitness activities built into the end of the school day.
