Wright Connection College Program

In mid-April juniors will begin to turn their attention to next year’s college applications as they learn how colleges make admission decisions at our annual Wright Connection college program, co-hosted with Annie Wright. Wright Connection brings 12 college deans, a distinguished group with many years of experience, to Tacoma for a college admission workshop.

On Friday, April 21, in small groups led by the deans, the juniors will act as admission committees, reviewing applications and making decisions—admit, wait list, or deny—for several fictitious applicants. This fun, interactive exercise gives our students valuable insights about the college admission process, just as they are preparing to apply to college. They will learn, for example, what makes a college essay compelling, how much colleges weigh SAT scores, and how admissions officers look for trends on the transcript and evaluate the rigor of applicants’ curricula and high schools.

There’s something for parents, too! On Thursday, April 20, from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Lower School Commons, we’ll offer a panel featuring six of our visiting deans who will discuss how colleges make admissions decisions.

  • Ever wonder how colleges compare applicants from different schools when grading policies can vary so significantly?
  • Want to find out how much SAT scores impact an admission decision vs. grades or activities?
  • Or do you have questions about financial aid that you’d like addressed by an expert insider?

Please come and bring all of your questions! All Charles Wright parents are invited and encouraged to attend this informative event.
