Girls Basketball

On Tuesday, January 30th the Tarriers traveled up to Sea-Tac to face the Seattle Christian Warriors. With no game for the JV girls, the team came prepared with a fully loaded bench. Having lost the first game in this head to head series the Tarriers hoped to even the score against the Warriors. Unfortunately, luck would not be in favor for the Tarriers.
After falling behind 8-22 in the first quarter, these ladies continued to push themselves. RubyJoy Pikes worked hard on the drive and ended the game 9/13 from the freethrow line. The Tarriers started to find some of their rhythm in the second quarter, but were still behind 20-38 at halftime.
The struggles continued for the Tarriers as the Warriors got a hot in the third quarter. With one final quarter of play left, there was a 26 point hole to dig out of. To start the fourth quarter, the Tarriers went on a 9-0 run that mixed in both freethrows and layups, but it was too little too late.
Everyone had a chance to get some minutes in. Cindy Li came in and scored 2 points while bringing some excitement to the defense. Taiya Melsness also scored in the game, including a short jumper in the final seconds.
The Tarriers would lose this battle 43-76. RubyJoy led all scores with 19, followed by senior Grace Hanly with 8. Lexi Leith scored 6 points, which included a great shot from beyond the arc. Taiya Melsness added in 4, and Erica Julian, Aliyah Recasner and Cindy Li each added in 2.

On Friday our girls traveled up to play Bellevue Christian. The Tarriers just could not find their rhythm on offense or defense. Final score 15-56.

RubyJoy with 8. Bert with 3. Erica and Grace with 2.
