Finding your muse. Telling a story with a tune. Creating something out of nothing. Saying what you really mean. Going against the grain. Finding your voice in collaboration. Risking everything to do something great. That’s the power of boundless expression, and that’s what we teach at Charles Wright. Here the arts are an academic subject and they bring richness, depth and creativity to a well-lived life. The interplay of language and performing arts in this building illustrates how, when the spoken and written word become insufficient, shape, color, line, sound and movement take over.
Every Upper School student takes English and foreign language classes here and the Upper and Middle School choirs, bands, orchestra and theater troupes have all sorts of rehearsal spaces in this building. The studio theater seats up to 250 offering endless creative possibilities. Students build the set in the production shop, run the lights from the tech booth, and of course do all the singing, dancing and acting!
