“A different language is a different vision of life” – Federico Fellini

Charles Wright is committed to developing competency in a foreign language and to fostering a cultural awareness for all of its students.  Through a communicative and practical approach that emphasizes immersion in the target language at all levels, students develop and continue to build on speaking, listening, reading and writing skills.  As early as Beginning School, students study Spanish. In Middle School, they choose Spanish or begin French or Japanese. In the Upper School, students are encouraged to study beyond the three-year requirement by either moving on to more advanced sections of their language or by beginning the study of a another language.  CWA offers beginning to college-level language classes in French, Japanese and Spanish and students have the opportunity to take the AP test.
