Katie Miller is an Upper School math teacher who comes to CWA from Connecticut. New to Charles Wright (and to Washington state) for the 2013-2014 academic year, Miller already feels inspired by the strong sense of community here. “Everyone at Charles Wright is so warm and welcoming, and the faculty and staff are all dedicated to students’ success,” she says. “The school works to educate the whole student and encourages students to embrace their individuality.”
As someone who enjoys how math can be applied to such a wide array of subjects, Miller loves when students are “able to apply the concepts we cover in class to real-world problem solving.” But she’s looking forward to getting involved in the CWA community outside the classroom, too. She not only will coach track and field, but also hopes to participate in the Outdoor Education program. “The trips are a rewarding and memorable experience for the students and I am excited to be a part of them.”
Perhaps it’s no surprise, then, that Miller is a fan of the outdoors. In her spare time she enjoys skiing, hiking and traveling (she studied abroad for a year in Copenhagen). She completed her first marathon in May 2013.
