Steve Daniels
8th Grade Science
Steve Daniels teaches eighth grade earth science. “I have high, but reasonable, expectations for my students,” says Daniels. “I hope my students will remember me as a fair, well organized and thorough teacher.”
Daniels particularly enjoys teaching students to identify rocks and minerals. The eighth grade curriculum focuses on astronomy, oceanography and geology. Each year his students research individual minerals and write poems and limericks about them. Many are submitted to the Middle School's own literary magazine and Daniels enjoys seeing them published.
Daniels holds a bachelor's degree from Brown University and a masters from Washington State University. During college, he toured England with Brown’s rugby team and learned about CWA from teammates Casey Jones '66 and Mark Wyatt '64, both CWA alums. He joined the Charles Wright faculty in 1970 and has taught physics, chemistry, environmental sciences, algebra and geometry. He currently coaches football, track and field and the science and engineering contest team. In the past, he has also coached the Science Olympiad, baseball, basketball and rugby teams. He enjoys hunting and fishing.
