Upper School/Middle School Choral Music
Aimee Mell teaches choral music in the Middle and Upper Schools.  “I enjoy working on essential skills with students,” she says.  “Like learning to read, the essential musical skills give them the ability to grow as independent musicians.  My experience has been that when students are grounded in theory and solfege, they can really perform at their optimal level.”

Aimee Mell Mell joined the faculty of Charles Wright in 2007.  Just a few weeks into her new job, she performed with the faculty drill team at half-time during the homecoming football game.  “I admit I am not the best dancer,” she says, “but I figured there is no better way to get to know a community than to get up and make a good-hearted fool of oneself!”

Mell graduated with a bachelors in Music Education from Washington State University. She earned her Master’s in Music Composition at Butler University in Indianapolis and will soon complete her Ph.D. in music history at the University of Washington.  She is a composer and serves on the Seattle Opera Board of Trustees.  She is also president of an organization developing the next generation of audience members for the Seattle Opera.

At Charles Wright, Mell also serves as musical director for the Upper School’s musical theatre program.  She enjoys travel, kayaking, cross-country skiing, snow-shoeing, hiking, biking and camping. She also loves pickle ball.
