Grace. Endurance. Confidence. Cooperation. Skill. Heart. Winning well. Losing well. Understanding that victory and defeat are both temporary. Charles Wright teaches all these things—usually while you’re wearing athletic shoes. That’s why athletics are an integral part of our curriculum, and our coordinated, sequential athletic program builds skills at each level.
Every Middle School student participates in four seasons of sports or fitness activities, and practices are built right into the school day. We offer a mix of competitive and noncompetitive programs and give students opportunities to compete against themselves, their peers, and students from other schools.
We offer WIAA football, volleyball, cross-country, soccer, basketball, baseball, and track and field. In these sports, sixth, seventh, and eighth graders all practice together. Seventh and eighth graders compete against other schools in the Middle Nisqually League.
Youth football, Ultimate, Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) and recreational basketball, soccer and volleyball, and our Running Club all give sixth graders an opportunity to compete off campus.
Charles Wright also offers Middle Schoolers noncompetitive dance, golf, tennis, weight training, hiking, and orienteering.
