school life

Charles Wright’s full-day junior kindergarten (pre-kindergarten) and kindergarten programs provide the broadest and deepest early learning experiences you will find in the South Sound.

For even our youngest students, we believe world languages, science labs, athletics, and the arts are an absolute must. With a class size of 16 and a student-to-teacher ratio of 8-to-1, every child gets more time and attention and more individualized challenges and support. More trust and respect are developed between students and teachers in this environment. Parent involvement in the learning process is encouraged, both at home and at school. The counselor and learning specialist often work with classes and one-on-one with students.

Junior kindergartners and kindergartners are members of the Lower School, a diverse learning community with 200 girls and boys from across Pierce, South King, Thurston, and Kitsap Counties. Nearly four in 10 Lower Schoolers are students of color.

Most successful junior kindergarten applicants turn 4 years of age by June 30, and most successful kindergarten applicants turn 5 by that same date.
