The Upper School’s four-year course of study is designed to create well-rounded, passionate, versatile, serious scholars capable of effective communication, sustained work, independent thought and original expression — while they’re having fun. The academic program recognizes and develops individual strengths while building competence in areas of weakness. The CWA philosophy of individually tailored education is emphasized and learning pace and schedule vary with each student. The Upper School program is crafted to introduce each student to a wide spectrum of scholastic endeavors while encouraging and inspiring in-depth studies in fields of major interest.
Challenging, complete and compelling — these are the watchwords of academic power in the CWA Upper School. Every student must complete carefully chosen core requirements to graduate, while adding elective courses of special interest or usefulness. In close consultation with his/her advisor, parents and the Head of Upper School, each student is encouraged to plan as broad a program as possible, taking into consideration educational goals and plans after high school.
