Drama and Art Teacher, 1962-1994
My tenure of 32 years at Charles Wright had much to do with the school's commitment to the arts. Early on the curriculum committee established the notion that the arts were equal to any other academic subject. They held to the conviction that the arts were the key to learning because they developed skills leading to self-confidence, decision making, self-discipline, group involvement as well as developing a keen sense of observation.

A facility which combines language arts with music and a theatre space seems symbolic of the school's continued commitment to including the arts as an academic subject. A facility which combines them illustrates their interplay; this is, when the spoken and written word become insufficient, shape, color, line, sound and movement take over.
