When I married drama teacher John Forier in 2005, four former students played at our wedding in New Hampshire. A current student wanted to come to the wedding and give a toast. We told him that if he got himself there, he would be more than welcome to give a speech. He came all the way across the country and he did a beautiful job.

I hope my students remember me as someone who cared about them as a person, as well as a student. I also hope they take one musical moment with them — a time it all came together for them. I particularly enjoy teaching chamber music where students perform in small groups of two to ten without a conductor. It’s a great way for them to learn independence and communication.
