The Charles Wright soccer program has a long and winning tradition.  The boys team has made 17 state appearances, played in the championship game in 1987, 1988, 1990, 1991, 2002 and 2003, and won the state title in 1988 and 2002.  The girls team has an equally competitive history with 12 state appearances in 1985, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1991, 1995, 1999, 2000, 2002 and 2003, and four trips to the semifinals.

In 2009, the boys team won the league and tri-district championships and played in the state quarterfinals.  The News Tribune named Junior Dillion Truscott the all-area boys soccer player of the year.  Truscott was also the Tacoma Athletic Commission’s athlete of the month and the Nisqually League’s most valuable player.  In 2010, the Tarriers won eight all-league honors and Truscott was named player of the year for a second consecutive year.

In essence, the varsity program, at both the Upper and Middle School levels, emphasizes a competitive environment in which players earn playing time through physical capability, technical proficiency, tactical understanding, and competitive character. Players are expected to demonstrate an unselfish degree of commitment, an honest work ethic and a positive attitude, hallmarks of what the school values in all endeavors.

The junior varsity program, although expecting equal commitment, ethic and attitude, accentuates participation in skills development and physical preparation in order for players to make the next step up to the varsity level.

Both the boys and girls varsity teams compete in the Nisqually League at the 1A level; opponents include Chimacum, Cascade Christian, Life Christian, Seattle Christian, Orting, and Vashon.
