Sam (1918-2009) and Nathalie Brown (1921-2007) co-founded Charles Wright Academy in 1957 and served as lifetime members of the Board of Trustees.  During the 2008-2009 school year, Sam was frequently on campus for board meetings and celebrations like the Athletic Hall of Fame.  He celebrated his 90th birthday during the Headmaster's Picnic by making an appearance at the Lower School's Town Hall that day and joined the Upper School choir singing the National Anthem before the football game.  To say he was greatly loved and will be greatly missed would be an understatement.   

Sam's life and the inumerable contributions he and Nathalie made to the Charles Wright community were celebrated at a memorial service on Sunday, March 8, 2009, on Charles Wright's campus.
