Click here for a video about Rock Camp with CWA Music Instructor, Rafe Wadleigh.

Who should sign up?

Musical teens entering 7th – 12th grade in the fall that play the guitar, bass, keyboards or drums and/or have vocals to share!  Some experience required—this camp will help you improve and give you more confidence on stage.  Students from all over Puget Sound will be here – from lots of different schools—all wanting to see if they have what it takes to be a rock star!

What will we do at camp?

You will:
  • get placed in a band, write songs, plays covers, and rehearse for your showcase concert on Friday night in front of a live audience.

  • receive instruction throughout the week and be given a chance to try out other instruments, as well.

  • see local rockers perform and learn the ins and outs of playing in a band.

  • meet others from around the area that share your interests!

What should I bring?

If playing guitar or bass is your thing, we need you to bring your instrument and an amp, if possible. If you’re a drummer or play the keys, we’d like you to bring your drum set or electronic keyboard along. We do have limited access to a few sets of these, but would prefer each camper have their own equipment, when possible. If you have an amp to share, let us know that, as well.

Bring a lunch every day. Snacks and drinks will be available.

When and where is this camp?

Rock Camp will be Monday through Friday, July 25th through the 29th from 9am until 1pm every day. The week will end with a showcase concert on Friday night at 7pm.

The camp will be in the Language and Performing Arts Center at Charles Wright Academy in Tacoma. We are located at 7723 Chambers Creek Road West, Tacoma, WA 98467.

Who is leading this camp?

Rafe Wadleigh will be Charles Wright Academy’s vocal music instructor for 6th – 12th graders in the fall. He comes to CWA with a great deal of musical instruction experience, most recently as Music Director at Holy Names Academy in Seattle. He is a talented, innovative and charismatic performer in his own right – he is an actor, vocalist and guitarist, as well as a gifted comedic improvisational artist and we are fortunate to have his many skills available to this summer rock program.
